On Thursday, February 23rd, 2017, Cindy Sproat of Brampton, ON assaulted a 20 month old baby girl. This child was in her care in her UNLICENSED home daycare "Cindy's Little Lambs Home Daycare", located in her former residence at 165 Kennedy Road South in Brampton, ON.
Witnesses reported the assault to police, who attended her residence, arrested her, and questioned her at Peel Regional Police's Special Victim's Unit. She was released without charge while detectives reviewed evidence.
On the night of February 24th, detectives returned to Cindy's residence, arrested her and formally charged her with  Assault, and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. Her trial wouldn't be until May 7th, 2018. Her trial ended on June 4th.
On June 6th 2018, Cindy had her judgement hearing. The judge stated that Cindy's statements and testimony were contradictory, her defense was not believable. He also stated that the witness statements and testimony were accurate, believable, and matched video evidence. He concluded that reasonable doubt had not been met and found Cindy guilty on both charges. A date for Cindy's sentencing hearing has been set, but is currently unknown at this time. Her sentencing hearing date, time and location will be posted as soon as we get that info.
On top of criminal charges against Cindy, Peel Children's Aid Society were also involved and conducted their own investigation. Letters were sent to Cindy by CAS informing her that they were satisfied by both their own investigation, and that of Peel Regional Police's, and had concluded that the child abuse allegations were true. They also notified Cindy that they intended to have her placed on the Child Abuse Register handled by the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services. They requested that she, or a representative contact them to set up a meeting to discuss their findings and intentions. Cindy ignored these letters and calls. Copies of these letters will be posted at a later date.

UPDATE
Today was Cindy’s sentencing hearing. She was sentenced to 6 months in jail, 3 years probation with standard conditions, she’ll have to submit a DNA sample for the Child abuse registry and must not communicate directly or indirectly with the victim, the victim’s family, or any witnesses involved in the case. 10 year weapons ban, and a $200 fine. It’s really too bad that this country is so lax on pedophiles and child abusers. She should be serving years in prison, not months in jail. We sincerely hope the 4 months she’ll actually serve are the HARDEST 4 months of her entire life and that every inmate she comes into contact with knows why she’s in for. Jailhouse justice is usually better than the actual justice system, but she’ll probably request protective custody to avoid that.

UPDATE
On February 2nd 2019 Cindy Sproat was released from Vanier Centre for Women after serving 2/3 of her 6 month sentence. We will continue to provide updates on her as they arise
